After losing a game against South Korea, Gilas Pilipinas will try to sweep all of its remaining games to keep its hopes on defending their crown in the ongoing 2017 William Jones Cup. However, this can only happen if both Canada and South Korea will absorb more loses than Philippines.

A terrible 1-of-26 from the three-point area is the main factor why our beloved Gilas Pilipinas lost the game and possibly the championship trophy.

With the high number of shot misses, coach Chot Reyes already miscounted but still praised his players for a superb defense against the South Korean roster who will also represent their country in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon.

“Idon’t have the stats but I think we shot one-for-sixty five tonight,” said Gilas coach Chot Reyes. “Our defense was good enough, we held a good team like Korea to 82 points. That would’ve been enough to win but we just couldn’t hit our three-point shots.”

South Korea played a 2-3 zone defense and even gave Philippines an open jumpers but unfortunately the ball always rolls out.

“They practically dared us to shoot,” Reyes rued. “We just couldn’t hit our shots.”

With a lead as high as 17-point Gilas was able to trim it down to a single digit and went close to just only four points (69-73) after a put back slam from Mike Myers.

However, that was the last celebration for all basketball Pinoy fans as Korean made a quick back-to-back basket and put the game away for good.
