The Philippines’ Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the team Kazakhstan at 11:00 A.M. on August 16, 2018 from Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Gilas Pilipinas or some call them as the Gilastopainters will start its 2018 Asian Games Basketball gold medal campaign against the team Kazakhstan.
As reported earlier, Jordan Clarkson will be joining the Philippines’ squad after he was given a clearance from the National Basketball Association (NBA) as well as from his mother team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
However, due to the distance between USA and Indonesia, Clarkson won’t be able to suit up in Philippines first game scheduled today.
At the start of the first quarter, Gilas made its way and controlled the game sparked from the efficient jump shots of Gabe Norwood and the energy provided by Stanley Pringle.
In that opening quarter, team Kazakhstan only managed to convert one field-goal and the rest of its score came from the charity stripes.
Gilas took advantage the poor shooting of their opponent and dominated the rest of the game.
As the end of the third period approaches, the crowd cheered as Jordan Clarkson finally made his touchdown in Jakarta and sat beside Asi Taulava.
The presence of Clarkson in the Gilas bench gave his soon-to-be teammates an added energy. Paul Lee who is 0-of-4 before Clarkson’s arrival went 3-of-3 after seeing the explosive guard of Cleveland Cavaliers sitting with the rest of the Gilas.
Team Philippines easily won the game against team Kazakhstan, 96-59. Next game of Gilas will be on August 21 and it’ll be versus team China.
