The Philippines’ Gilas Pilipinas is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Team Singapore at 8:15 P.M. on December 4, 2019 live from the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
Gilas Pilipinas will start their gold medal bid tonight for the 2019 SEA Games and in their way is team Singapore.
The roster for Philippines Men’s basketball team was in place after head coach Tim Cone named the replacement of RR Pogoy who got injured during their intense battle in quarterfinals round in the PBA.
Greg Slaughter was the last name inked on the Gilas Pilipinas 12-man lineup. Slaughter, Japeth Aguila, and June Mar Fajardo will be the three-headed monster of the host country in the 5X5 basketball tournament.
Though the Philippines is the heavy favorite going to tonight’s ball-game yet coach Cone wanted his troops not to take their opponent lightly.
The multi-awarded coach did his assignment and based on his scouting reports, the Singaporean loves to execute a run-and-gun tempo.
That offensive strategy is probably the best counter-attack for a team that relies on big-men.
“That team runs the floor and finishes very, very well. So you know, we had to make sure we’re doing certain things well,” Cone said.
“And if we’re doing those well, we think we can handle them. They’re not that deep. They go about five, six guys deep, maybe seven,” he added. “And obviously, we’re gonna be 12-deep.”
