Gilas Pilipinas will continue their gold medal bid tonight for the 2019 SEA Games and next on their way is team Vietnam.

Team Philippines hammered team Singapore during their 2019 SEA Games debut with a demolishing 52-point victory.

Though it’s still their first win and the coveted gold medal still far from their reach yet their fans were all satisfied with the outcome.

Two new players of the Gilas squad who can’t hide their happiness are Chris Ross and Vic Manuel.

Ross admits that though he is almost a PBA Finals mainstay for several seasons still felt nervousness especially when he wears the Philippines jersey for the first time.

“I was nervous. I was nervous coming into the gym. I was nervous seeing my jersey hanging in the locker. And coming out, a lot of cheers from the fans that was really nice and I’m still nervous.

“Good thing, coach Tim (Cone) put me on the first five and so I can get my nerves out. As soon as the ball goes us, it’s all basketball,” he said.

Dubbed as the PBA’s “Muscle Man” Vic Manuel was also excited in his first stint as a Gilas player.

“Syempre, unang-una excited talaga akong maglaro kasi first game ko ito sa Gilas team, sa national team natin. Everytime na tawagin ni coach Tim name ko para maglaro, ready ako, talagang bibigay ko 100 percent para sa team,” said Manuel.

Tonight, team Philippines will battle a team that looks like another powerhouse in their bracket, the team Vietnam.

The Vietnamese squad is also fresh from their huge victory against team Myanmar, 131-52.
