The 2018 Asian Women’s Volleyball Cup will make its kick-off today and to open the Philippines’ campaign, they will match up against the Australian Volleyroos.
Alyssa Valdez and half of her teammates from the 2018 Asian Games will be returning to action but several main personnel won’t be available in their 5:00 PM match.
Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat both are reliable blockers and spikers for team Philippines are part of those players who will not suiting up in the tournament. Both of them have commitment with their respective ball-clubs in Japan.
Team’s setter Kim Fajardo won’t be also in uniform due to an injury while Kim Kianna Dy, Majoy Baron and 2017 Asian Seniors Women’s Volleyball Championship 2nd Best Libero Dawn Macandili are in New York.
To power coach Shaq Delos Santos squad, Cha Cruz-Behag, Maika Ortiz, Mylene Paat, Denden Lazaro and Mika Reyes, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Jasmine Nabor, Grethcel Soltones and Creamline’s Jema Galanza, Mel Gohing, Jia Morado and Risa Sato are set for another volleyball action.
Team Pilipinas finished eight place last Asian Games. During the tournament, they matched several great teams like Thailand, Kazakhstan, Japan and gold medal winner China.
Team Iran will be their next assignment then a rematch with team Kazakhstan where they almost stole the victory when they clashed for the fifth spot in classification round.
