The team Philippines is scheduled for a head-to-head match against the team Indonesia in the 2018 Asian Games – Women’s Volleyball tournament at 8:00 P.M. on August 25, 2018 (PHI Time) live in Jakarta, Indonesia.
It will be the last game of the Philippines Women’s Volleyball team in the preliminary round of the 2018 Asian Games. After beating team Hong Kong in their last outing, they have secured a spot going to the quarterfinals.
The Pinay spikers have swept all of the rounds with 25-18, 25-21, 25-22 score and ended a 30-year plus losing drought in the Asian Games. As a reward, they have secured a ticket moving to the next round.
Tonight, they will be tested by the Aprilia Manganang-powered Indonesian team. If they’ll win back-to-back it will be a big boost for them as they head to the playoffs.
Apart from the skills of their opponent, team Philippines will also need to overcome the home crowd which is expected to flock the Indoor Tennis Hall of the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex.
“Mas magiging OK kung panalo tayo sa Indonesia,” coach Shaq delos Santos mentioned after the beating team Hong Kong.
“Ayaw namin i-limit na pumasok ka ng quarterfinals, OK na,” he also said. “May chance pa, may opportunity, so grab pa kami and paghahandaan pa namin nang mabuti,” Shaq added.
This game is also important for the team Philippines as it will give them an idea how formidable their current lineup as well as their game strategy as they prepare for the upcoming 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
The Indonesia Women’s Volleyball team is the runner-up during the 2017 Southeast Asian Games which was held in Thailand and the gold medal winner went to that host country.
