If there’s something called championship contender then there’s also what many called as the championship dark horses and in this conference, that’s the Bolts and the Fuelmasters.

For the past several All-Filipino tournament Meralco never reached the playoffs and many started to think that head coach Norman Black isn’t that hyped in the first conference yet much more excited during the import laden tournaments.

However, with the late last season acquisitions, the locals of the Bolts have upgraded with the arrival of the likes of Raymond Almazan, Allein Maliksi, and others.

This time around many expects that a new team will join the post-seasons of the All-Filipino Cup which they missed for so many years.

News of Calvin Abueva’s return to the PBA is getting closer according to many reports yet his real status is still in limbo if you ask newly installed Phoenix head coach Topix Robinson.

“He’s willing to do whatever he can for the team,” said Robinson.

“Obviously, everybody wants him to play but that aspect is not within our control and what we have control of is to prepare ourselves to compete, whether Calvin is playing or not,” Robinson added.

Robinson will make his head coaching debut this afternoon. Part of his resume is his collegiate coaching success where he many of his then amateur players are now in the pro-league.
