The Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NorthPort Batang Pier at 6:45 P.M. on August 26, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Fuel Masters are looking to make a two game winning streak while the Batang Pier continue to find a way how to log its first victory in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup without their key players.
NorthPort head coach Pido Jarencio continue to play without Stanley Pringle who is with the GilastoPainters in Jakarta, Indonesia representing the Philippines in Men’s Basketball and Sean Anthony who is still out due to his injury.
“Alam mo naman yung dalawa,” said NorthPort head coach. “Si Stanley nagpapagaling ng kasama. Nadadala niya. Yung defense nagko-collapse sa kanya. For now, siyempre, wala. Kailangan mag step-up talaga yung ibang players,” Jarencio added.
To make matter worse for the “Fireman”, Jeron Teng suffered an injury in their previous game against the NLEX Road Warriors while Nico Elorde got hit with back injury. Good thing, Elorde will be available this evening but for sure the medical staff of NorthPort will monitor his performance if he can log more minutes.
The Batang Pier main weapon in their third conference debut was their import Rashad Woods who logged 42 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists but not enough to take home the victory.
Calvin Abueva finally made his first PBA game after got suspended by his former team, the Alaska Aces. The man who is also known as “the Beast” wasted no time and quickly make his presence felt when they played against the run-and-gun team, the Columbian Dyip.
Abueva tallied a double-double effort with his 12 points and 13 rebounds. As usual, Phoenix import Eugene Phelps stuffed the stat sheet with his another 50-point performance.
Phelps went unstoppable versus Columbian as he dropped 50 points along with 17 rebounds.
