After a clean sweep over PLDT on Monday at the PCV Socio-Civic Cultural Center, Sta. Lucia earned its first win in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, 25-18, 25-15, 25-21.

Mika Reyes, Dell Palomata, MJ Phillips, and Jonah Sabete staged a 7-1 run in the third and final set to give Sta. Lucia a comfortable eight-point lead, 19-11.

PLDT’s bleeding was stopped when Isa Molde converted a kill, which was followed by a net violation from Sta. Lucia.

Jorelle Singh, a former NU Lady Bulldogs spiker, kept the Power Hitters alive and brought them within one point, 21-22, thanks to a slew of blunders by the Lady Realtors. However, Molde’s attack fault, along with a block from Phillips and a kill from Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, brought the set to a close at 25-21.

After a 25-18 victory, Sta. Lucia gained a 1-0 lead over PLDT thanks to a balanced first-set effort.

In the second set, the Power Hitters started off well, but multiple errors on their part allowed the Lady Realtors to take a 16-11 lead into the second technical timeout before winning the set 25-15.

The Lady Realtors, who bounced back from a loss to defending champion Creamline on opening day, is currently 1-1, while PLDT is still winless, now 0-2.

Sta. Lucia will play Chery Tiggo at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, while PLDT will face Cignal at 6:00 p.m. on the same day.
