The Elasto Painters are eager to make a quick bounce-back victory and ignite another winning streak while the Elite will try to end their two-game losing slump when the league returns to the PBA bubble this afternoon.
After their head-turning success early in the conference, Blackwater had their tough exams and reality check when they faced league-leaders the Alaska Aces and the TNT Tropang Giga.
A massive and eye-popping 51-point combined deficit which resulted in back-to-back losses.
Seems like the third quarter shocking attack strategy of head coach Nash Racela is now totally exposed and their opponents got their plan for a counter-attack.
Yet, the Elite is still in the middle mix of the standing, and getting another win will keep their position within the “Magic-8”.
For the Rain or Shine side, Rey Nambatac had the chance to make another heroic act during the match against the Alaska Aces. Yet, the man who is known as the “Stingray” missed his layup and got their first loss this All-Filipino Cup.
Despite the defeat, ROS still remains at the top of the standings. Few of the reasons why they have a good footing this conference are their early scouting, Beau Belga, and the uprising of their young guns.
“Entering the bubble, most are not in game shape, so the advantage is to play hard-nosed defense, kasi may iba dyan mga sixth game pa lang mag-pi-pick up at babalik ang shooting,” said Garcia.
For Belga, head coach Caloy Garcia felt that his point-center wanted to add more intangibles to his game.
“Beau is carrying the team, with him being very vocal and having a different attitude inside the bubble. Parang he wants to be a leader right now, and everybody’s responding and doing their roles,” said Garcia.
Rain or Shine’s “Youth Movement” got amplified when they drafted three more youngsters last 2019 draft. Apart from Rey Nambatac and Javee Mocon, former Ateneo Blue Eagles standout Adrian Wong has started writing his name in the PBA.
