The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the GlobalPort Batang Pier at 4:30 P.M. on May 20, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Elasto Painters are looking to strengthen their position in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup standings and take a solo leadership while the Batang Pier wanted to make a two games winning streak.
Rain or Shine were able to escape from the hands of San Miguel Beermen in their last outing. Despite of having no import in the rest of the second half, the Beermen pushed the Elasto Painters as the game went to overtime.
However, coach Caloy Garcia had something in mind which might probably surprised the Beermen. In the entire fourth quarter he benched his ace big-man Raymond Almazan and then he re-inserted him back to the lineup during the extra period. At that time, SMB’s coach Leo Austria no longer have June Mar Fajardo on the floor as the “Kraken” absorbed his sixth foul at the later stages of the fourth.
Almazan took over and took advantage the inexperience of 2017 PBA top pick Christian Standhardinger and the rest was histrory. Rain or Shine currently sits at the top of the standings sharing the slot with the Alaska Aces. A victory today will give them a solo position at the top.
For GlobalPort on the other hand, Sean Anthony continue to play a stellar game as he was named again as the Bida Player of the Game against NLEX Road Warriors.
Anthony registered 21 points and 7 rebounds in that victory. Most of his shots are open jumpers as the opponent’s defense are concentrated either on their import or on Stanley Pringle.
Mo Tautuaa seems found home in the Batang Pier helm as the former top draft pick has converted himself to become a double-double machine. In his last game he logged 13 points and 11 rebounds.
