The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Meralco Bolts at 4:30 P.M. on June 24, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Elasto Painters are looking to strengthen their top spot position in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup standings while the Bolts are looking to make a quick bounce back game if they wanted to have a twice-to-beat advantage going to the next round.
Rain or Shine are coming from an eight days hiatus and that means they’ll be carrying ample energy as they prepare their clash versus Meralco which only have 48 hours to rest.
Although they are currently enjoying the top view of the second conference standings coach Caloy Garcia knew that many of their wins are come-from-behind. The veteran coach are looking for a consistent basketball from his troops.
“I just keep reminding the players that even though we’re on top, it’s still difficult because we’ve been winning games that are close,” he said.
“So we need to get better in every game.”
The Bolts on the other hand lost its chances to make it to the top two last Friday as they absorbed another lost against the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters. Coach Norman Black thinks that his wards hasn’t displayed the same energy during their four-game winning streak.
“We didn’t play with the same energy that we played with in the four wins and it showed,” he said of the loss to the Katropa.
“They (Katropa) were quicker than us. I think they won the hustle stats by a pretty good margin and can’t expect to have a low energy and expect to win in the PBA,” added Black. “Fortunately for us, we’ve had high energy for the majority of this conference.”
