The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NLEX Road Warriors at 4:30 P.M. on June 28, 2019 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
The Elasto Painters are looking to make back-to-back victories while the Road Warriors wanted to keep their post-elims hopes alive when the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup resumes this afternoon in the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
NLEX will parade a new import in today’s curtain-raiser game but it seems the plan is not for this conference but on the next one.
Oluseyi Ashaolu is back and as early as the second conference he will try to regain the chemistry with his teammates in their preparation for the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Ashaolu surprised the league last season when they sparked a 2-0 start in the third conference.
Unfortunately, he absorbed an injury and was replaced.
For Rain or Shine, on the other hand, coach Caloy Garcia’s familiarity with coach Yeng Guiao basketball system sees that NLEX has become a more dangerous squad.
“With Olu in I think they will be confident that they have an import who fits them well,” said Garcia.
“It’s always dangerous to play against a team like them because we know anyone can step up on any given night,” added Garcia.
ROS is coming from a victory against the Columbian Dyip, a team that always beat them in the elimination round since the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup.
They have ended that streak and now they’re eyeing to strengthen their position as one of the top-eight squads in the ongoing tournament.
