The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NorthPort Batang Pier at 4:30 P.M. on June 19, 2019 live from the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Both squads are on their respective two-game winning streak. Obviously, the Elasto Painters and the Batang Pier don’t want to end that instead add more to their wins as the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup resume this afternoon in SM MOA Arena.
The PBA landscape was shook yesterday with the news that NorthPort’s main-man Stanley Pringle got traded to Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
Perhaps one of the reasons why the Batang Pier made the move is that they needed more firepower as Nico Elorde and Jonathan Gray also joined their team’s injured list.
Despite having almost no-Pringle in this conference, NorthPort are still playing superb basketball as they collected five wins out of their already completed six assignments.
NorthPort head coach Pido Jarencio looks like wanted to focus more on their today’s curtain raiser game than the Pringle trade.
“Rain or Shine is a strong team and with (Denzel) Bowles getting his rhythm they are hard to beat,” said Jarencio.
“We must play with intensity and consistency throughout the game.”
Coach Jarencio will be reunited with his UST Growling Tigers star players, Jervy Cruz and Kevin Ferrer.
He will also have the services of Sol Mercado who is part of the trade from the Gin Kings.
Coach Caloy Garcia and his Rain or Shine squad is the first team to put the new NorthPort lineup to a test.
“It’s gonna be a tough game for us, seeing how NorthPort has been playing,” said coach Caloy Garcia.
“They look like the best team right now. We have to find ways to stop their transition game and control the boards. We also have to lessen our turnovers.”
