The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters is now in a commanding 2-0 series lead against the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok after snagging another impressive victory yesterday at the Big Dome, 93-80.

Norbert Torres ignited his team with his three-point barrage especially in the first half. In the opening period, Torres converted three long range bombs and he added one more in the following quarter.

Torres registered a total of 16 points along with his 5 rebounds in just 14 minutes of playing time.

Then Rey Nambatac, Mark Borboboran, Ed Daquioag and Gabe Norwood joined the party as they launched their own versions of three-pointers.

In the first half, Rain or Shine already tallied 9 treys which they tied their entire Game 1 output. A total of 16 converted long range bombs they have logged in Game 2.

Ed Daquioag was the key the personnel for coach as he led his team in scoring. The former UST Growling Tiger registered 19 points and was later named as the “Bida Player of the Game”.

Similar to Game 1, Rain or Shine had a balanced scoring in Game 2. It seems like veteran guard James Yap is preaching to his teammates the popular quote, “There’s no ‘I’ in the word ‘Team'”.

“Sabi ko sa kanila na pagdating sa ganitong sitwasyon kailangan ready lahat at kailangan magtulungan,” Yap said. “Di tayo magiging successful kung isang tao lang yung gumagawa. Pagdating sa playoffs, kailangan tulungan.”

Fatigue might be the main factor why Magnolia unable to level the pace of their opponent.

At around 8-minute mark in the fourth quarter, Hotshots head coach Chito Victolero decided to pull out his starters most likely to give them rest and part of their preparation for Game 3.
