
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the GlobalPort Batang Pier at 7:00 P.M. on July 21, 2017 live from Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Batang Pier is looking to bring their late success last second conference’s elimination round while the Elasto Painters will bring back an old but effective offensive strategy in this 2017 PBA Governor’s Cup.
GlobalPort shuffled their line-up as they dealt some of their valuable assets in exchange for another great basketball talents.
The Romeo-Pringle led team added big-man Bradwyn Guinto, Gilas cadet member Jonathan Gray and 2016 PBA Mythical Second Team member Sean Anthony.
Those late additions in the second conference helped GlobalPort beat Alaska and took the last playoff spot.
Prior to the start of the Governor’s Cup, the franchise made another move by trading Von Pessumal for San Miguel’s Arnold Van Opstal. Opstal will bring more height in the roster and will improve the team’s big-man rotation.

Coach Franz Pumaren squad also brought in his former player in De La Salle. With Ryan Araña, GlobalPort’s back-court second unit now looks more solid especially he’s familiar with Pumaren’s system.
Coach Caloy Garcia mentioned that he will bring back the dribble-drive offensive play this conference. A system that he’s more familiar with before coach Yeng Guiao took over as the team’s head coach.
According to him, this type of play will also benefit former MVP James Yap.
“James has a hard time in the ball screen, pero dumarating sa nagwa-one-on-one siya, kaya niyang umatake,” Garcia said. “It’s helping everybody.”
