The NLEX Road Warriors dominated the GlobalPort Batang Pier in their Christmas duel in Philippine Arena, 115-104.
Last 2016-17 PBA Philippine Cup, NLEX accumlulated only two wins but today they have only matched that after they have lambasted GlobalPort.
The familiar strategy of coach Yeng Guiao of scrambling his first-five lineup continue this 43rd PBA season and he puts Kiefer Ravena to coming-off the bench role.
That wasn’t a problem for “the Phenom” as he dropped 20 points, five assists and four steals while JR Quiñahan shows consistent performance chipped in 19 points and nine rebounds.
Without Terrence Romeo in the Batang Pier lineup, new GlobalPort head coach Pido Jarencio turned to Stanley Pringle to carry the team’s offense. The other half of the “Slash Brothers” registered 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
However Pringle’s effort wasn’t enough to grab a Christmas win even with the 19 points contribution from Sean Anthony.
“We just gave ourselves and our supporters a really nice Christmas gift to win on Christmas Day. We carried the momentum of our first win,” said NLEX coach Yeng Guiao.
“We take a two-week break from here, but we’ll keep on practicing through the holidays,” added Guiao whose troops will be back in action only on Jan. 7 against the Phoenix Fuel Masters.
