The Rizal Xentrol Mall Golden Coolers is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Muntinlupa Cagers Angelis Resort at 4:00 P.M. on June 29, 2019 live from the San Andres Sports Complex, Malate, Manila.
The Cagers wanted to end their two-game losing skid and pick up their first win this Lakan Cup tournament while the Golden Coolers also have the same thing in mind when the 2019 MPBL season continue this afternoon in Malate.
The last time Rizal played was halted due to the venue in Navotas was declared “non-playable”. That’s after both coaches from the Rizal squad and the Navotas Uni-Pak Sardines as well as Commissioner Kenneth Duremedes agreed to stop the match.
“The safety of the players is being given utmost priority. When we decided to stop the match, several players even approached me and thanked me for stopping the match. Sila mismo, medyo kinakabahan na rin sa situation sa playing venue. The game will be resumed at the end of the elimination round and will be played if ever there’s a bearing in any of the two teams.” said Duremdes.
The score at that time was 56-39 in favor of Navotas and it seems that Rizal where on its way for another blowout defeat just like what happened in their first game in this tournament versus the Makati Super Crunch.
In that June 18 match, Rizal were defeated by a 22-point margin.
A disastrous 3-of-30 from beyond the three-point line and lack of bench scoring support cost them a game.
For sure head coach Jayvee Gayoso have his adjustments for this afternoon game.
For the Muntinlupa squad on the other hand, they too are coming from a defeat against the Pasay Voyagers.
Cagers player Regie Boy Basibas who scored a total of 22 points in that match missed his floater that could be a game-winning shot.
This afternoon, it’s expected that Basibas and his squad will try avenge that defeat.
