With the victory against the Dyip, San Miguel now improved to 2-1 slate. Although they’re able to connect most of their shots but SMB head coach Leo Austria is concerned how his team executes their defense.
“We’re no. 1 in the league right now in terms of offense, but the problem is our defense,” said Austria.
This was evident, before both squads entered the second half, Columbian was leading by two points as the Beermen gave up 66 points to their opponent.
“That’s not a sign of a good defense,” he said. “Fortunately our offense was superb tonight. I’m happy that we won the game, but I’m sad because we’re not playing good defense.”
Columbian Dyip’s decorated player Jackson Corpuz had a career-night as he registered a double-double performance. The former PCU Dolphin had 28 points and ten rebounds in a losing effort.
Shifty guard Jerramy King and Columbian’s import added 22 points apiece.
