The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NorthPort Batang Pier at 7:00 P.M. on October 23, 2019 live from the Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City.
The Beermen will make an attempt to pick another victory while the Batang Pier will try to improve their 2-4 record when the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup resumes this evening at the Cuneta Astrodome.
NorthPort and San Miguel shook the PBA landscape and perhaps the Philippines sporting world after they executed a blockbuster deal a week ago.
That was to send Christian Standhardinger for Mo Tautuaa.
The two players were a top overall pick in their own respective batches and play in a similar position.
Yet for Standhardinger, transferring to the Batang Pier will end his chance at least in this season for a grand slam. However, in return, he will get massive playing minutes which close to be doubled during his stint with the Beermen.
“I wish I could’ve had a chance to win a grand slam. But it is what it is, and I think the players of San Miguel are great, and I only wish them the best,” said Standhardinger.
His new head coach Pido Jarencio already assured him with more time inside the basketball court.
“Sa amin, siguradong lalaro siya over 30 minutes a game,” said Jarencio.
For the Beermen side, on the other hand, they already had a break-in with their latest acquisition and it seems that Tautuaa is comfortable with his new role.
Most of his time is to defend Columbian Dyip import Khapri Alston inside the paint. Still, he was able to contribute 10 points in 19 minutes of basketball action.
