The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a best-of-seven semi-finals match against the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters. Game 5 is at 7:00 P.M. on April 25, 2019 live from the Cuneta Astrodome.
The Beermen is just a game away for the championship round but the Fuel Masters will try to extend the series when the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup semi-finals resumes tonight in Pasay.
No Marcio Lassiter? No problem! Probably that was the statement of Terrence Romeo during Game 4. The scoring machine unloads 17 points in the third quarter enough to completely remove the desire of the Fuel Masters to make a comeback.
Likewise, with that big surge in the second half piled by the Beermen, coach Leo Austria has opted to rest June Mar Fajardo in the fourth quarter to keep him ready in tonight’s game.
The five-time MVP is the target of Phoenix defense but when he was not on the floor, it seems that the Fuel Masters got lost on what to do on the defensive end.
“Medyo natalo kami sa mind game kanina,” admitted Alas. “Sabi ko nga sa kanila sa post-game, parang naging secondary na lang sa amin ‘yung basketball. Since we were trailing… ayun, natalo.
Romeo took advantage of the confused defense as well as the 2013 MVP Arwind Santos who made a bounce back game after his horrible shooting in Game Three.
According to the history book, if a team leads 3-1 in a best-of-seven series the team which is leading wins it all.
Yet, there’s an irony for the Beermen as they gave hope for that trailing squad. San Miguel defied that odds when they have beaten the Alaska Aces in a championship round after down 0-3.
“We will not give up. Ang sabi ko nga sa kanila, kung me plano kayong mag-bakasyon ako last thing na gagawin ko dito is mag-give up, hangga’t di natatapos ito,” said Alas.
