The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a best-of-five semi-finals Game 2 against the Alaska Aces at 7:00 P.M. on July 16, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Beermen already made one in their best-of-three series against the Aces and San Miguel wanted to take a commanding 2-0 lead when PBA resumes this evening at the Big Dome.

The streak of Vic Manuel has finally ended and was stopped at eleven last Saturday. Manuel who is the leading candidate for the Best of the Conference award was limited to 16 points.

“Yung San Miguel magagaling din dumipensa sa post. Ang lalaki din nila e, so talagang nahirapan din ako,” Manuel said.

“Siguro next game papakita ko ulit. Pero hindi naman ako nalimit sa scoring, talagang masama yung start ko,” he added.

Manuel went 0-of-3 in less than a minute when coach Alex Compton inserted him in the Alaska lineup at the later stages of the first quarter.

Alaska continued to play without the services of “the Beast” Calvin Abueva who is serving a team suspension while Chris Banchero wasn’t in Alaska bench in Game 1 due to family matters. This is the second time this conference that Alaska having this situation.

“It’s a family matter and we are going to leave it at that. I hope none of us goes through it,” said Compton.

On San Miguel camp on the other hand, their prized rookie and the number one overall pick of the 2017 PBA Draft is back in action.

Christian Standhardinger wasted no time after coach Leo Isaac called his name. In his first playoff appearance in the league Standhardinger logged nine points along with five rebounds.

SMB import Renaldo Balkman who celebrated his birthday last Saturday added 13 points and 11 rebounds. According to the former New York Knicks forward, there’s no celebration to keep their focus in the game.

“I’ll save my celebration later when I get a couple days off, when I’m not playing basketball. What counts right now is winning a championship,” said Balkman.

“I’m motivated to get to the finals, of course, but we got two more left. We got to get to the next one. We’ll get it through. We got to stick to the game plan. We’ll play together and go out and get a win,” he added.
