The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Blackwater Elite at 4:30 P.M. on July 4, 2018 live from the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Beermen are looking to make a three-game winning streak and improve their chances to make it in the Top Six teams while the Elite will continue to take their spoiler role when the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup resumes this afternoon after a week long break.
With their last two games remaining in the second conference, coach Leo Austria wanted to sweep it all as the final playoff picture is getting clearer. San Miguel’s head bench tactician believes that their game against Blackwater will play an important factor.
“That’s why this game against Blackwater talagang importante,” said Austria. “If we win p’wede kaming 5 or 6, depende sa results ng ibang game.Worst scenario we lose two and posibleng bagsak kami sa ties for the lower two.”
“Mahirap iyon. Me tsamba doon.”
For Blackwater on the other hand, although they’re already out for the playoffs contention, coach Bong Ramos wanted his troops to continue to demonstrate a winning attitude as they prepare for the third conference.
“Iyung sistema na ina-apply ko, opensa, depensa, plus enthusiasm ng players halos nandoon na rin. Kaya lang napakahirap, especially sa aming mga coaches, na i-push ang isang team na alam mo out ka na. I’m trying my best na tanggalin iyung pakiramdam na out na, gusto ng mag-bakasyon,” said Ramos.
Blackwater got lambasted by the Meralco Bolts in their last game and coach Ramos seen that his players are not up for the challenge but instead have a going-to-vacation mentality.
“Although, iyung Meralco naman sadyang napakalakas na team, one of the top. Pero siyempre, huwag namang parang hindi tayo lumalaban. Umpisa pa lang umayaw na, e. Walang enthusiasm, character, aggressiveness. Iyung effort wala,” Ramos added.
