The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NLEX Road Warriors at 7:00 P.M. on January 19, 2018 live from the Cuneta Astrodome.
The Road Warriors seems like in disarray after its stellar start at the beginning of the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup while the Beermen are looking to solidify its position in the standings when PBA action resumes tonight.
NLEX prized rookie Kiefer Ravena just logged his new career-high in their last outing exploding with 31 points. However, that scoring outburst wasn’t enough to stop the second straight loss for the Road Warriors.
“Kiefer played a great game offensively, but that’s not our style of play. We don’t want one player to take over the game offensively and try to bring us or carry us on his shoulders for us to win,” said Guiao shortly after their loss to the Hotshots.
“With our system, we always won more games when more people got involved and more people scored in double figures,” Guiao said. “Kiefer played a great game offensively but he did not get enough support from the rest of the team.”
Three straight winner of the All-Filipino conference trophy, San Miguel will be gunning for its four straight victories and strengthen their hold of the first place of the standings.
One of the reasons why the Beermen are so formidable is because of its Magnificent Five lineup led by June Mar Fajardo, Arwind Santos, Alex Cabagnot, Marcio Lassiter and Chriss Ross.
To make them more dangerous this conference, other players from the SMB’s bench now understand their role. When their first five unable to find their shooting rhythm guys like Brian Heruela and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser provided the spark and that was seen in their game versus the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa played in Iloilo last Saturday.
“Importanteng makapuhunan ng panalo,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria.
