The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters at 7:00 P.M. on September 20, 2017 live from Ynares Center-Antipolo.
Just like the other teams, the Beermen are also working hard to get the twice-to-beat advantage as the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup Quarterfinals round is just around the corner while the Fuel Masters will try to spoil them.
The Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters are one of teams which are already eliminated in the ongoing tournament. The other teams are GlobalPort, Alaska and Kia.
However, this scenario can only send a message to Matthew Wright that he’ll be having a green light to harness his shooting skills as Phoenix has nothing to lose.
The Gilas three-point shooter is still fresh from his 36 points explosion against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
Coach Leo Austria understand the situation and most likely advised his players not to relax against the Fuel Masters.
“That’s one big reason why we can’t take them for granted,” said Austria.
The Beermen is on a mission and that is winning another Grand Slam for the franchise. San Miguel is currently on a role and in enjoyed a three-game winning streak.
In their last outing, Kia Picanto gave them a scare as their opponent controlled the first three quarters. Thanks to the fourth period explosions of June Mar Fajardo and Alex Cabagnot which sealed the game.
Also, in that Kia versus San Miguel game, it was noticed that the Beermen’s import Terrence Watson sat out almost the entire second half. Coach Leo Isaac trusted once again his All-Filipino lineup and as usual it delivered another W for the team.
