The San Miguel Beermen is scheduled for a head-to-head quarterfinals Game 1 against the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters at 4:30 P.M. on July 9, 2018 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 2018 PBA Quarterfinals round has finally arrived and coincedentally it will be a rematch of last year’s Commissioner’s Cup Finals between the KaTropa and the Beermen.
In 2018, San Miguel won the second conference trophy by eliminating Talk ‘N Text in Game 6. That time they have Charles Rhodes who eventually named as the Best Import.
In this year’s version, the Beermen is now reinforced by Renaldo Balkman who suit up on the third game schedule as he replaced Troy Gillenwater.
In their lone bout last June 16, San Miguel went victorious but it was a very physical and emotional game. Several players got thrown out from the court as commotion got intensified.
Terrence Romeo and Anthony Semerad of TNT was slapped with technical fouls that leads to their exit from the basketball court while for the Beermen camp it was Marcio Lassiter and Arwind Santos.
Although both squads failed to finish as one of the top two teams during the elimination round and weren’t able to get the twice-to-beat advantage reward, San Miguel head coach thinks that he can still have it.
“If you win the first game, twice-to-beat ka na so it’s really important na makuha itong Game 1,” was how SMB coach Leo Austria put it on the eve of the match. “Kung before we’re just jockeying for position, eto pang semi-finals na and, hopefully, higit pa roon,” added Austria.
