The most awaited basketball event is finally here! The Serbians and the Angolan will be featured in today’s curtain-raiser match of the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
Looking at the FIBA World Ranking, team Serbia is the toughest in Group D considering that they’re ranked number four.
According to an article published by sbnation, the Serbians are among the seven teams that can beat team USA in this year’s edition of the basketball World Cup.
Their roster is comprised of four NBA players and these are Bogdan Bogdanovich (Sacramento Kings), Nemanja Bjelica (Sacramento Kings), Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets) and Boban Marjanovich (Philadelphia 76ers).
Among those four players, Jokic is the most dominating in terms of offense (also can play tough defense). He had an impressive campaign in the NBA last season where he was named as an All-Star and was part of the All-NBA First Team.
For Team Angola, according to FIBA, they’re ranked number 39 and the lowest in Group D.
This squad doesn’t have an NBA player in their roster but is willing to give the Serbians a difficult test in their tournament’s opener.
The Angolans topped their Group C bracket in the first round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Africa Qualifiers and finished second in the final round, enough to book a ticket to China.
