Both the Bolts and Hotshots are finding ways how to return back to the top of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup standings after setbacks in their last outing.

After a week long break, the Bolts returned in action and seems like they forgot how streaky they are.

Despite of having a full force lineup as Amer Baser came back from Gilas stint and Cliff Hodge has green signal to play after he suffered an injury, Meralco still fell short against the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa, 107-113.

Coach Norman Black finds no excuse how they got beaten by Jayson Castro and the rest of the TNT crew.

“Some other teams also had long breaks but came back and played well. So definitely, that’s no excuse. We’ll have to find a way to improve as a team,” said Black.

“Judging by the way we played, we didn’t have the same fluidity we had in the past games,” Black said. “We didn’t have the same fire, the same execution we had before the long break.”

Probably one of the exciting games this third conference was the last Sunday’s “Manila Classico”. Many fans have waited for it and both Star and Ginebra gave the crowd what they want, 100% pure entertainment.

Malcolm Hill helped his team to get another chance to win as he forced the game into overtime after he sank his three crucial free-throws. However, in the extra period, the young Hotshots import committed his last foul and Star eventually got defeated by Ginebra.

That loss is second straight for Star Hotshots and coach Chito Victolero fully aware how important his succeeding games if they wanted to get rewarded for a twice-to-beat advantage in the Quarterfinals round.

“We’re in the crucial stage of the conference, and I’ve told my players that we need to push up the level of our game especially as we’re to face strong teams,” said Star coach Chito Victolero.

“It’s an important game for us. We have to play hard to get the win,” he added.
