The Star Hotshots is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NLEX Road Warriors at 4:30 P.M. on September 24, 2017 live from the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Hotshots will do its best to climb up in the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup standings ladder while the Road Warriors continue to aim the twice-to-beat incentive going to the next round of the tournament.
The Quarterfinals is yet to start but all teams which still have the chance to make it to the top 4 are currently too busy preparing their respective teams.
“Kung manalo kami that’s the time we’ll try to compute kung ano mangyayari sa amin,” stated Victolero. “The only thing we can do is prepare hard to win. The important thing is to get the ‘W’ on Sunday.”
“That’s our only shot para magkaroon pa kami ng chance for the top four. Ganoon din sa NLEX. I think magandang game iyan.”
Star newly acquired import Kristofer Acox is currently doing what coach Chito Victolero wanted him to do and that is on the rebounding end.
Acox who pulled 18 rebounds in his PBA debut was again a monster cleaning the boards as he registered 15 against Kia Picanto in just three quarters.
He is currently one of the concerns of coach Yeng Guiao going to their 4:30 PM clash.
“Their import is getting the hang of it. That makes it even harder for us to close out the elims with a win. But this is also the time to prove ourselves. I believe we are very close to breaking out as a contender in this league. Beating Star takes us a step closer to that objective.”
However, NLEX have a countermeasure for Hotshots Icelandic import and that is Aaron Fuller who is averaging 25 points and 19 rebounds.
He also helped NLEX collect seven victories, a team which part of the bottom four teams in the last two conferences.
“Must win for us,” said Guiao. “No win, no twice-to-beat.”
