The Star Hotshots is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Talk ‘N Text (TNT) KaTropa Texters at 6:45 P.M. on September 17, 2017 live from Ynares Center-Antipolo.
Joining the top four teams are what the Hotshots and KaTropa aiming in tonight’s ball-game. Talk ‘N Text are eyeing for a three-game winning streak while Star wanted to start a back-to-back victories.
Star Hotshots three-game losing skid might be a message for them that their present manpower isn’t enough if they wanted to bring home the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup trophy.
Few days ago they have shipped streak shooter Allein Maliksi to Blackwater Elite in exchange for Kyle Pascual to provide the team more ceiling.
Today, coach Chito Victolero will be parading a new import in the name of Kris Acox who is a member of Iceland men basketball team.
Acox will replace Malcolm Hill who helped Star in beating GlobalPort Batang Pier last Wednesday. Hill scored 32 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in his last game in this year’s third conference.
“He told us he understands, then biglang naglaro ng pinakamaganda niyang laro para sa amin. Talagang consummate pro. Kung meron lang kaming (JuneMar) Fajardo o (Greg) Slaughter he would have been ideal for us dahil talagang scorer. And everybody in the team likes him.” said coach Chito Victolero about Malcolm Hill.
The recent player movement of the Hotshots is really to address their rebounding problem.
“At the same time, we need another rebounder. Lahat ng talo namin we were outrebounded by the other teams kaya we brought in somebody who we feel can help us in that area,” said Victolero.
The Ranidel de Ocampo era is now over in Talk ‘N Text franchise and currently brewing up a new big man hoping to deliver the same success brought by RDO.
In TNT’s game against NLEX, it was evident that both Mo Tautuaa and Troy Rosario playing minutes has increased as well as their scoring responsibility. Both young guns of TNT were playing aggressive and eventually Rosario was named as the “Bida Player of the Game”.
Talk ‘N Text’s new acquisitions Justin Chua and Norbert Torres were stuck in the bench after wearing their TNT jersey for the first time.
“We won’t rush them. Ang importante is they learn the things that we do on both ends,” said Racela.
“They both seem to be very smart, so I don’t think that would mean hard for them to learn our system,” Racela added.
