The controversial Miss Universe 2015 event host, Steve Harvey broke up his silence for the first time concerning the arguable conclusion of the world’s most renowned beauty contest that at first crowned the wrong winner due to a mistake caused by the seasoned comedian and also a TV host.

Steve Harvey made worldwide headlines during the coronation evening of the Miss Universe 2015 that was held last December 20 (December 21 Philippines Time) in New York. Harvey initially declared Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the Miss Universe 2015 winner, then after a short-while, the host returned back on stage and apologized for the mistake and then proclaimed Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach is the rightful winner.

Based from the Miss Universe host during the “Steve Harvey Morning Show” he only noticed his mistake as he noticed the “confusion” backstage right after the contest.

The host remembered “All hell broke loose. All I heard people saying backstage was, ‘that’s the wrong name.’ And then a guy came to me and said… they say you said the wrong name“.

“All I hear was confusion backstage. I was standing in the wing, so what I did was I said I’ll go fix it… I took it upon myself and walked out there to do something… All I could think of was, here’s a problem – the lady who won, Miss Philippines, is standing there as a loser. She got all the votes and the points. So I’m going out there and I will say I made a mistake. Did I make a mistake? Yes, I did, wholeheartedly” Harvey added.

Steve Harvey also mentioned that it was far more convenient for him to allow the Miss Universe pageant organizers to fix the mix-up, he chose to correct his statement on live television since it is the right thing to do.

The seasoned comedian as well as TV host emphatically refuted that his negligence was part of a marketing trick for Miss Universe, stressing that he by no means desired the level of attention he is gaining right now.
