The Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the NLEX Road Warriors at 4:30 P.M. on February 28, 2018 live from the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Road Warriors are looking to extend their winning streak into five while the KaTropa will make their final push for them to qualify to the Quarterfinals round.
“Better than later than never” or “It’s better to have something than nothing” might be the messages in the minds of Talk ‘N Text squad. Jayson Castro and Troy Rosario will return back in the lineup and will try their best to make their team move to the next round of the 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup.
Both players had a spectacular performance when they returned back to the lineup of Gilas Pilipinas against team Japan. Rosario led the Gilas bench as he scored 14 points while Castro delivered a clutch basket to prevent the Japanese comeback.
If they win this afternoon against their sister team, TNT will be in a wild scramble with Phoenix, Ginebra, GlobalPort and Rain or Shine granting if those other teams will also end up at 5-6 record. If that’s the case then the quotient factor can aid coach Nash Racela’s squad and can either be in a do-or-die game or an automatic qualification.
For Coach Yeng Guiao on the other hand, holding their position at third place is a must.
“We would set a record for our franchise as the highest finish in the elimination round if we win our game tomorrow,” said Guiao on the eve of the match.
“Taking third place would mean a lot to us after struggling early on. It’s also a momentum- and confidence-builder for us going to the quarterfinals.”
Apart from the achievement that they will have the franchise record of highest win-loss card at the end of eliminations, they also wanted to avoid the twice-to-win disadvantage.
“Makaiwas lang kami sa seventh or eighth masaya na kami. We’re just trying to avoid that twice-to-win disadvantage. We want to play a team on even terms,” said Guiao following his charges’ 93-90 win over Blackwater last Feb. 18.
