The Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters is scheduled for a head-to-head game against the Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters at 4:30 P.M. on February 7, 2018 live from the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Fuel Masters roller coaster ride continues as they got beaten by Alaska Aces in their last outing while the KaTropa wanted to avoid another defeat as they pursue for a back-to-back wins when 2017-18 PBA Philippine Cup resumes this afternoon.
Sometimes playing against a losing squad where its players having problem making shots and lacks team chemistry becomes contagious to their opponent and this is what coach Nash Racela figured out when his team faced-off with Kia Picanto in their last game.
Racela wanted to avoid similar situation where their double-digit just disappeared in front of their eyes and needs to exert much effort in the last quarter in order to get a W.
“When we play teams like Kia we have this tendency of going down (to their level). I expected them to give their maximum effort… but the way they played tonight they did not,” said Racela after the Picanto game.
“We can’t give the same effort against Phoenix.”
Now that the All-Filipino conference reaches to its second half phase, collecting more wins to have a better position in the Playoffs is very important.
“Every game is important at this stage of the conference,” noted Racela. “We need to get wins to have a favorable position in the playoffs,” he added.
For the first time in their professional basketball career, coach Louie Alas and coach Alex Compton went head-to-head few days ago.
PBA fans have witnessed the battle of the full-court press teams but the troops of coach Compton has shown mastery of the defensive art which brings them to PBA biggest stage several times.
TNT bench tactician is preparing for that defensive plays which coach Alas continue to employ to his Fuel Masters as well as to clamp down its shooters.
“We hope to contain the shooters of Phoenix and at the same time prepare for their pressing defense,” stated Racela.
