San Miguel Beermen guard Terrence Romeo just named as the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals MVP.
This might be the sweetest answer for any player to their former team who traded them.
Now wearing the SMB uniform, the former scoring champion made his response to his former ball-clubs, the TNT KaTropa, and the NorthPort Batang Pier.
Romeo averaged 14.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.3 rebounds in this championship round that reached Game 6.
In the first round of the playoffs, the Beermen faced the Batang Pier which carries a twice-to-beat advantage. Of course, they won that series in two games to advance to the semis.
GlobalPort (now NorthPort) was the team drafted Romeo back in 2013 using its 5th pick in the first round of the draft.
He was traded to TNT KaTropa in April 2018 which reunites him with his fellow Gilas Pilipinas teammates Jayson Castro, RR Pogoy and Troy Rosario.
Yet, in December 2018 he got shipped again and this time around to the San Miguel Beermen in exchange for David Semerad, Brian Heruela, and a 2021 first-round draft pick.
At present, most particularly in this Finals round, it shows that Romeo evolved his game where he demonstrated that he can also play defense. Likewise, he also showed to his critics that he can also blend in a team that runs on a system instead of individual skills.
