Here are the live scores, updates, and results of the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup between the TNT Tropang Giga and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (ROS), scheduled on July 30, 2021, at 3:00 PM.
After being held in isolation due to positive COVID-19 cases, the Tropang Giga will return to action against the Elasto Painters in their comeback game.
Since winning their first game of the season against Terrafirma Dyip, 89-76, the Tropang Giga have been well rested.
Four TNT players scored in double digits in the victory against Terrafirma led by Jayson Castro’s 17.
In its comeback, Tropang Giga will activate youngster Mikey Williams in an attempt to build on its excellent start to the season. Williams will be replacing veteran guard Ryan Reyes in the team’s active 15-man roster.
The Elasto Painters, who are looking to rebound from a poor performance last Wednesday, stand in Tropang Giga’s way. ROS is looking to capture their second win in the tournament.
In their last match against Alaska Aces, Rain or Shine failed to score 50 points and was limited to its lowest scoring output in club history, 48-74. Elasto Painters’ scoring output of 48 points is also the second lowest score scored by a team in PBA history.
Rain or Shine was held to a pathetic 20% shooting percentage in the game, with no Elasto Painter scoring in double figures.
The last time this two teams met in the PBA bubble, Rain or Shine gains the last playoff spot at the expense of TNT and eliminating the latter in the process.
The All-Filipino Cup will proceed to the quarterfinals in its customary format, with the top eight teams advancing. Against the eighth and seventh seeds, the top two seeds will have a twice-to-beat advantage. Meanwhile, in a best-of-three series, No. 3 will face No. 6, and No. 4 will face No. 5. Best-of-seven matches will be played in the semifinals and finals.
Unlike last season’s setup, the league will have a closed-circuit system for the Philippine Cup this time, with teams, league employees, and the media encouraged to keep a venue-home pattern to limit COVID-19 exposure.
The games will be held four times a week. The conference is also scheduled to go through the end of October.
