Remedy Rule fought hard for the semifinals in her first event at the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday but could not make the Top 16 of the 33 strong female rivals.
Rule finished second in her heat in the 100 meter buttefly at the Aquatics Center in Tokyo. However, it wasn’t enough to put her into the penultimate round of the competition with only the top 16 swimmers qualifying to the semifinals.
She finished 25th in 59.68 seconds, 0.33 seconds slower than her start time of 59.55.
The Texas Longhorn alumni, on the other hand, will have a chance to compete in the 200 meter butterfly event on Tuesday, Heat 3.
Rule is essentially guaranteed a spot in the semifinals here, courtesy to one of the universality entries clocking a personal-best nine seconds slower than the rest, including Rule.
