In an advisory, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced Friday that the scheduled closure of the EDSA-Bagong Barrio U-turn slot next week would be delayed until January next year.

Initially scheduled for closure on Monday (December 7), the earlier mentioned U-turn slot will instead be closed on January 4, 2021, said MMDA.

“The postponement of the U-turn slot closure is in deference to the Christmas season,” the MMDA added.

Thus far, around six U-turn slots have been closed by the MMDA for the EDSA Busway project and further improve its service to commuters. These are the U-turn slots in North Avenue, Congressional Ave., near Oliveros Drive, Balintawak, in front of Quezon City Academy, and in Dario Bridge (northbound and southbound).

Moreover, to help address the expected congestion during the Yuletide season, the MMDA said it is considering reopening two U-turn slots in North Ave. and Congressional Ave.

All in all, the MMDA plans to close 13 U-turn slots along EDSA.

Meanwhile, MMDA stressed that road reblocking works by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will continue along Ortigas-Granada Road.

“Repair works will start 11 PM Friday (December 4), until 5 AM on Monday (December 7),” the MMDA said.
