Desiderio found his shooting strokes in the second half where he scored all of his 19 points. His two-pointer converted shot with only five seconds in the fourth quarter gave his Fighting Maroons an edge, 71-69.
Yet, Adamson able to respond in the opposite court as Felix Jaboneta fouled Sean Manganti. UP was already in team penalty and that sent Manganti to the free-throw line where he sank his two freebies, 71-71.
UP head coach Bo Perasol called a timeout and designed a what could be one of the best plays in UAAP. It was a quick in-bound pass from Juan Gomez de Liaño to an open Bright Akhuetie. Akhuetie found himself open under the rim and without hesitation took the opportunity and instant two points as time expiring, 73-71.
Juan Gomez de Liaño added 19 points and five rebounds including his slam dunk in the first half while his younger brother Javi Gomez de Liaño chipped in with nine points and four rebounds.
Adamson Soaring Falcons ace guard Jerrick Ahanmisi was limited to nine points along with his six rebounds and four assists. Ahanmisi struggled heavily from the field as he shot 1-of-7 from three-point area.
Papi Sarr carried his team in scoring, without his 23 points their today’s game would be an easy blowout.
Next game for Adamson Soaring Falcons vs University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons is scheduled this coming Wednesday.
