The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons is scheduled for a semi-finals knockout game against the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers at 4:00 P.M. on November 13, 2019 live from the SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
The Fighting Maroons will try to make avenge their last Sunday’s loss and at the same time to advance in the Finals round while the Growling Tigers wanted to continue their supremacy against the UP this UAAP Season 82 to make an upset and face Ateneo in the Championship round.
UST head coach Aldin Ayo was pleased with the performance of his boys during their series opener against UP.
Led by Rhenz Abando, CJ Cansino and Renzo Subido, the Growling Tigers put their squad in a comfortable situation as they built a double-digit lead at the end of the first half.
“It’s all about execution on both offense and defense,” said UST head coach Aldin Ayo. “We executed our game plan and all my instructions were followed by my players. We were connected out there.”
Yet, in the second half, the Fighting Maroons woke up and orchestrated an 8-0 blast led Ricci Rivero where they cut the deficit to only 11.
However, that was the closest UP can do as UST made 3-0 against them in this year’s version of the tournament.
“The way we played in most of the quarters, there’s no way we can win against UST,” said UP head coach Bo Perasol. “We’re up against a team that’s very aggressive. We have to match that or be better than them.”
